Apple Plans to Launch Its 'Netflix for News' Service Next Month

Apple's Holding a Surprise Event on March 25, Here's What to Expect New Apple AirPod 2 rumors result in 2 possible launch dates in the same day

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently teased that "new services" from Apple are coming in 2019 during an interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer.

However, Apple has been holding events in March for years, so it's not entirely surprising news. Specifically, Apple is rumored to be planning a $10-a-month subscription tier for its News app that would include stories normally tucked behind paywalls. Calling it the Netflix of news, Apple's hefty fee may send content providers running.

Apple's much talked about news subscription service could be going public soon. Major outlets including The New York Times and The Washington Post haven't agreed to license their content to Apple's news service partly because of concerns about the proposed terms, according to Tuesday's report.

It is worth noting that the report does suggest the company may change its plans if it can't nail down negotiations with publishers.

Another report by The Wall Street Journal, however, has said that Apple is having dramas with publishing partners, and rightfully so, because the company is apparently asking for a 50 per cent revenue cut from subscriptions.

North Korea Demands Rewards for 'Denuclearization,' Doesn't Acknowledge Summit
This would allow Washington to call for additional increases in the amount South Korea would pay for the following year. Yonhap said the USA had previously demanded 1.13 trillion won (US$1 billion) from South Korea.

This reticence is exacerbated by the loss of subscriber data such as credit card, email and address information which would come with ceding control to the middle man.

We spoke to expert analyst Dan Ives, of Wedbush Securities, who said he thinks rumors of a news service launch are true - but fresh gadgets could also be on the way soon. It's also possible that new iPads, AirPods and AirPower could be released at WWDC '19 or via press release. Once again, the source mentions that there will be no new hardware during the event.

"We believe there will be another event in April at which point we expect iPad and product announcements to be launched". That subscription news service that has been all over the news today.
