Pavard, who was one of the shooting stars at the 2018 FIFA World after starting six of France's seven games and scoring the Goal of the Tournament, will join the club on a five-year deal.

"We are delighted, proud and happy that we won over Benjamin Pavard for Bayern Munich", sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told reporters at the club's winter training camp in Qatar.

The toussled, talented young French defender, a World Champion as of last summer, is reportedly set to cost Bayern around €35million.

Pavard is Bayern's first signing for the 2019-2020 season. A rejuvenated Borussia Dortmund - with England global Jadon Sancho playing a starring role - went into the winter break with a six-point lead after their 2-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach prior to Christmas.
