People are not one bit pleased about Instagram's new update

The new feed went live on Thursday morning, however it wasn't meant to go live for everyone, with Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri tweeting that it "was supposed to be a very small test but we went broader than we anticipated".

It felt unusual from the start, because Instagram did not issue any sort of blog post to explain the change.

Instagram has improved for the better a number of times.

First rolled out on Thursday, December 27, Instagram were testing a horizontal image feed instead of a vertical one on the app's home screen.

In what has to be in the running for the most baffling move by a social media platform in 2018 (though Facebook has that award locked up already), Instagram began rolling out a new feed for some users this week which forced them to scroll through their friends' photos horizontally rather than vertically. Instead, users opened the app after updating to find a message that said "Introducing a New Way to Move Through Posts. Tap through posts, just like you tap through stories". It appears as though the app has been changed globally, for a majority of users.

Given the extremely negative response that the updated received from its users, Instagram may think twice about releasing the update to the public. The old design was still available through Instagram.com, however, allowing you to scroll up and down, in addition to the Explore page on the app.

'We quickly fixed the issue and feed is back to normal. Users then need to find the version of the app they do want on their device, they can likely find it on APK Mirror and install it from there.

Instagram did not immediately respond to Newsweek's request for comment.
