NASA's InSight Lander Sends Back Sounds of Mars

InSight is designed to study the interior of Mars like never before using seismology instruments to detect quakes and a self-hammering mole to measure heat escape from the planet's crust NASA Recorded the Sounds of Mars (And It's Almost All Creepy Bass)

"These images will help mission team members determine where to set InSight's seismometer and heat flow probe - the only instruments ever to be robotically placed on the surface of another planet".

InSight lander's sensors are created to detect quakes and air pressure through wind vibrations.

According to NASA, InSight is now in the process of setting up its instruments on Mars.

During the first few weeks in its new home, InSight has been instructed to be extra careful, so anything unexpected will trigger what's called a fault.

A second track is a little easier to hear since NASA processed it to make more audible.

Sensing the wind, which moved from northwest to southeast at around 5 pm local time, was "an unplanned treat", said Bruce Banerdt, InSight principal investigator at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

From Baikonur started the spaceship "Soyuz" with the ISS
It is reported by Roscosmos on Monday, December 3, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent. The Soyuz capsule landed safely in Kazakhstan , with Hague and Ovchinin emerging from the incident unhurt.

It's the sounds of Mars.

"The arm will use its Instrument Deployment Camera, located on its elbow, to take photos of the terrain in front of the lander", NASA writes.

NASA also released an audio track from InSight's air pressure sensor, with the data sped up by a factor of 100 to bring it into human hearing range. This sensor recorded the vibrations directly while the seismometer recorded the vibrations of the movement the wind caused in the solar panels.

"Humans are multisensor people, and now we have two of our sensors turned on with this mission", with both audio and visual data streaming back to Earth, Don Banfield, the science lead for the air pressure sensor, said during the news conference.

On December 1, InSight sensors captured a haunting low rumble caused by vibrations from the wind, estimated to be blowing between 10 to 15 miles per hour (16 to 24 kph). The sample includes data gathered during the first 15 minutes that the sensors were recording. Maybe. Is there sound? The robot has a lot of work ahead of it, but things always start slowly when you're handling a machine remotely from another planet. "We are really going to have an opportunity to understand the processes that control the early planetary formation". "It just gives another way of thinking about how far away [we are when] we're getting these signals".
