Multiple outlets reported that Scott's legal counsel informed U.S. District Judge Mark Walker Wednesday morning that the governor would not play a role in certifying the state's official election results pending the completion of a statewide recount.
The deadline for officials to complete the machine-recount is Thursday.
With lawsuits flying as thick as insults, and the margins extremely tight, a second recount - this time done manually - is on the cards. "Both the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which Gov. Scott oversees, and the Gov. Scott-appointed Florida Secretary of State have both said that there is no credible evidence of voter fraud", Nelson said during a press conference with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Capitol Hill.
Scott's motion was supported by lawyers representing the state Republican Party and opposed by Snipes' office, Nelson's campaign and the state Democratic Party.
But as they evolved, USA elections still kept more space for raw politics than has survived in many other modern democracies - including Canada - and that appears to be a big part of the problem we're seeing now.
In Snipes' Broward County, the recount was delayed for hours Sunday because of a problem with one of the tabulation machines. And if Palm Beach County doesn't like the outcomes of Bucher's leadership, they can look for another election supervisor. "There have been issues that haven't gone the way we wanted it".
Three extra sheriff's deputies have been called in to monitor the recount. The president's son, Donald Trump Jr, used Twitter to share a headline that read: "Nearly 200,000 Florida Voters May Not Be Citizens".

Then there are times when they look exhausted and beaten (the fourth quarter against Carolina and the second half against Dallas). They were hoping to win back-to-back games for the first time this season and move above.500 for the first time since Week 3.
Rick Scott will step down from the state panel responsible for certifying the results in the state's highly contested elections. The campaign also requested that all Palm Beach County votes that are counted after Saturday's deadline to submit an initial ballot count be thrown out.
"This has been a really, really weird election year", said Paul Lux, the president of the Florida Association of Supervisors of Elections.
Studies have found no evidence of large-scale voter fraud in the United States, although courts have found evidence through the nation's history of policies meant to suppress voting by minorities.
"If it takes a little while to count them, count them we must".
In a separate television appearance on Monday, Scott called Nelson a "sore loser" and alleged that "he's just here to steal this election". If true, that would be a violation of election law.
The elections supervisor in the Florida county at the center of the vote recount has hinted that she might not run for re-election. Scott asked the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate his allegations of fraud, but neither the department nor the State Department did so because no credible criminal allegations had been made, according to an FDLE spokeswoman who spokes with Newsweek at the time. "But there's laws. Comply with the laws". But Bonfiglio's lawsuit points to concerns that the Palm Beach County supervisor of elections office will not be able to finish machine recounts by a 3 p.m. Thursday deadline in his race and in the races for governor and agriculture commissioner. While Democrats have already regained control of the House, 10 races are still outstanding, several of them in California.
In the House of Representatives, Democratic candidates are faring even better.
Leon County Circuit Judge Karen Gievers ruled in favor of lifting the 3 p.m. Thursday deadline in Palm Beach County and giving county elections officials until November 27 to complete their recounts, in lawsuit filed by Democratic Florida House District 89 candidate Jim Bonfiglio, but the ruling was nullified as Detzner's notice was filed hours earlier.
