During an ultra-rare press conference following Tuesday's midterm election, Trump escalated his ongoing war of words with CNN's Jim Acosta.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders has been accused of sharing a "doctored" video of CNN correspondent Jim Acosta's interaction with a White House intern that resulted in the reporter's press pass being revoked.

During a press conference on Wednesday, President Donald Trump called CNN's Jim Acosta a "rude, bad person" after the reporter tried to ask several questions, but was cut off or dismissed by the commander in chief. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders later tweeted out a statement falsely accusing Acosta of putting his hands on the young woman and stating that his press pass would be revoked until further notice. The Trump administration barred another CNN reporter from attending an open media event in July but until now has not gone as far as removing a credential, known as a "hard pass", which enables journalists to enter the White House grounds.

Trump was dodging Acosta's questions regarding a wide range of subjects, including the Russian Federation investigation and the group of migrants traveling from Central America toward the USA, when a White House intern walked up to take his microphone away.

The press conference, which initially focused on simple political topics, quickly descended into chaos after Trump was asked about his politics and the controversial issue of Russian Federation meddling in the US's 2016 presidential election (the same election that put Trump in the White Hosue).

"CNN should be ashamed of itself, having you working for them, you are a rude, awful person". The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is disgusting, and the way you treat other people is frightful. He was heading back to the White House for a live shot on "Anderson Cooper 360".

"[Sanders] provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened", the statement read.

In a later tweet, Sanders said the White House stood by its decision.

Whitaker, on the other hand, has expressed frustration with Mueller's probe. Trump have clashed, particularly after it was revealed Mr.

CNN said in a statement that Acosta has the network's full support.

"This unprecedented decision is a threat to our democracy and the country deserves better", the company continued.

The dramatic White House expulsion of Attorney General Jeff Sessions may be getting all the attention, but there was another one that some consider just as important: the banning of journalist Jim Acosta.

When asked if he had "demonized immigrants" during the midterms campaign, Trump replied: "No, I want them to come into the country".

Acosta had challenged the president on his characterization of the migrant caravan moving through Mexico as an "invasion".

Soon after, he shared a video of a Secret Service agent confiscating his White House press credentials. You shouldn't treat people that way... "When you report fake news, as CNN does a lot, you are an enemy of the people".

CNN's reporters, namely Acosta, have been frequently seen on the front lines of the White House's tense press briefings.
