HMD Global, the maker of Nokia phones has expanded its handset line-up with the Nokia 3.1 Plus smartphone, and its first 4G feature phone, Nokia 8810 or the "banana" phone in India.
At the back, you have the vertically shaped dual camera module, LED flash and the fingerprint scanner - all of which are in the upper half and symmetrically placed. Priced at Rs 5,999, Nokia 8110 4G is the upgraded version of the iconic Nokia 8110 with a new avatar and features and will be available from October 24. Unlike the Nokia 6.1 Plus and the 5.1 Plus that sports glass rear backs, the Nokia 3.1 Plus employs metal-plastic combo rear panel. To the bottom, there's the Micro USB port whereas the top has the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Several details about the Nokia branded smartphones are known. An Octa-core Snapdragon 710 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz will power it. Nokia X7 will be available in 4GB/6GB RAM + 64GB/128GB internal storage variants. Although it is too early to comment on the performance of this device, it will surely face a stiff competition with the likes of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, Realme 2 and more. With Android Pie around the corner, Nokia 3.1 Plus users may receive a big update later this year.
Nokia 3.1 Plus comes with a large 6-inch HD+ IPS notchless display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
The Nokia 3.1 Plus doesn't have any fancy looking design; however, it does look very classy with a no-nonsense design. The handset itself has 4GB inbuilt storage along with microSD card support for up to 32GB. A dedicated micro-SD card slot could potentially expand the onboard storage by about 400GB. On the front, the phone comes with an 8 MP camera with f/2.2, fixed focus lens. We are yet to gaze on the overall performance and potential of the smartphone - stay tuned for the complete review shortly.
Software side of things, the 3.1 Plus runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with August 2018 patches installed.
Nokia 3.1 Plus is powered by 3,500mAh battery which is said to deliver up to two days of battery life, which of course depends upon your usage.
With the Nokia 3.1 Plus, HMD Global is stepping in the crowded segment where there are a number of options already. As it is a feature device, it does not sport a selfie camera. Also, just like otherAndroid One phones, Nokia 3.1 Plus will have stock Android UI with minor alterations.
Ever since HMD Global revived the Nokia brand, one of its strong points have been the software department.
