Turkish police investigating the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi believe he was killed inside the consulate by 15 Saudis who visited October 2, and left the country the same day.

In August, Trump reimposed economic sanctions against Tehran and said that anyone doing business with Iran would not be doing business with the US.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday night, citing an unnamed person familiar with the information, that before Khashoggi's disappearance, American intelligence personnel "intercepted communications of Saudi officials discussing a plan to capture him", in the Post's words. The Post's source added it was unclear how the Saudi's planned on handling Khashoggi after receiving him or if the United States warned him that he was targeted. Suggestions that Khashoggi was killed and his body then mutilated have gained wide circulation in the week since he vanished, and Turkish officials continue to insist he met a brutal fate when he stepped through the doors of the diplomatic mission. They don't know over there, but it's a very serious situation and it's something we're taking very seriously.

While the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has so far been reluctant to confirm the killing of Khashoggi, grisly details of the murder and the operation to assassinate the Saudi journalist are being released by senior Turkish security officials.

A week after the disappearance of Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi, details about what happened to him at the Saudi consulate are beginning to emerge, along with indications that the US had information of a Saudi plot against him.

Saudi Arabia has claimed the CCTV cameras were not working on Tuesday, to explain their inability to provide video evidence that Khashoggi left the consular building as they claimed he did. She said the writer first visited the consulate on September 28 "despite being somewhat concerned that he could be in danger". "We will be guided by our national interest", he added.
