Nikki Haley Resigns as United Nations Ambassador

BREAKING UN Ambassador Nikki Haley resigns Nikki Haley resigns as US ambassador to the United Nations

In the past year, the two-term governor from SC has emerged as a close confident of Trump and was strongly pushing for Trump's foreign policy agenda at the United Nations, attracting frequent praise from Trump himself.

But she said in her resignation letter to Trump she would "surely not be a candidate for any office in 2020" and would support his re-election bid.

The decision was announced to reporters by President Trump in a joint Oval Office appearance with Haley.

Trump said that together they "solved a lot of problems" and said he hoped she could come back to the administration in another capacity.

But she said on Tuesday she would not be running and would campaign for Trump.

Nikki Haley is out as United Nations ambassador, and maybe, possibly, Ivanka Trump is in.

Powell and Haley apparently also have a close relationship. An April Quinnipiac University poll found 63% of voters approved of her job performance, compared with 17% who disapproved. "I pick up the phone and call him or meet with him in person".

She touted achievements of the Trump administration on foreign policy and said America is "respected again".

Haley, who was confirmed as ambassador shortly after President Trump was inaugurated, offered her resignation Tuesday morning and will serve through the end of 2018.

Haley fueled the flame when she singled out Javanka for praise.

'Jared is such a hidden genius that no one understands...

Trump praised Haley, saying she has done an "incredible job" and is "somebody who gets it".

Trump, along with Haley, made the announcement at the White House on October 9.

Haley's nomination was a turning point for the Indian-American community which is increasingly playing greater role in American politics.

Powell served in the Trump White House for nearly a year before leaving her job as deputy national security adviser to return to Goldman Sachs in January 2018.

Pompeo has led policy on talks with North Korea, while Bolton has taken the lead on trying to implement Trump's hard line against Iran.

Her departure comes less than a month after the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, which was somewhat of a rocky affair for the president. Haley and Trump tangled before he won the 2016 presidential race.

Haley, who is not personally wealthy, hinted in her resignation letter to Trump that she is headed to the private sector. Trump tweeted that "The people of SC are embarrassed by Nikki Haley". "They should be heard, and they should be dealt with".
