More Telltale Employees Laid Off As Studio Continues Its Collapse

Herman Weaver | 06 October, 2018, 04:48

While the vast majority of the team were laid off in September, a "skeleton crew" of around 25 was kept on to fulfil contractual obligations, suspected to be related to Minecraft: Story Mode's Netflix adaption. If Telltale's plan goes ahead, a number of ex-employees will operate under and be paid by a new company on a contract basis.

One of the remaining members of Telltale's staff, Rachel Noel, tweeted: "Heeeeyyyy remember how there was going to be a skeleton crew staying on for a while and I was part of it?"

Fans of The Walking Dead know not to get attached to characters since they come and go so quickly, but still, Rick Grimes and Maggie Rhee have been around since the beginning and we just aren't ready to see them go.

Most people imagined that crew would stay on board for a few months, but as of October 4, 2018, Telltale Games laid off a few more of its employees.

Today again there has been news as the situation around Telltale Games closure seeps through the cracks. Early sales of the first episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season, which released in August, were also apparently weak, leaving the studio in a precarious position.

In a subsequent update, Noel clarified that it was her team, not everyone left at Telltale, who was let go.
