The handsome forward left Real Madrid after winning four Champions League titles - a trophy Juventus has lifted just twice in their history - and becoming their record scorer with 451 goals in 438 games.

Ronaldo, 33, has been accused of raping a U.S. woman, Kathryn Mayorga, in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.

On Thursday, Juventus posted a message of support for Ronaldo on social media which has drawn widespread criticism for its wording.

Leonardo Spinazzola, Sami Khedira and Daniele Rugani are all sidelined, meaning Juve are expected to adopt a 4-3-3 formation. Ronaldo is the highest-rated player in the game when it comes to base stats, and can also be acquired as a particularly rare "Ones to Watch" card within the game's Ultimate Team mode.

EA Sports uses Ronaldo as the face of their huge Federation Internationale de Football Association gaming franchise - with this year's latest edition featuring the Juve ace on the cover.

EA is keeping a close eye on an evolving story surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo, who's now the cover star of Federation Internationale de Football Association 19 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

They're seeking to void the settlement, but have given interviews to German news magazine Der Spiegel in the meantime, leading to the Las Vegas police re-opening their investigation.

In them they said the alleged events "dating back to nearly 10 years ago" do not change their opinion of the player, who they described as a "great champion".

Ronaldo has vehemently denied the rape accusations.

Italian champions Juventus on Thursday said rape allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo do not change their opinion of their superstar player, but USA sportswear giant Nike said it was "deeply concerned".

'We are closely monitoring the situation, as we expect cover athletes and ambassadors to conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with EA's values'.

In a statement, the company said it would "continue to closely monitor the situation".

Juventus have so far stood behind Ronaldo, but the Italian club's reaction to the issue has angered some fans.

Ronaldo drives off after completing a training session at the Juventus centre in Turin, Italy.

"My clear conscious (sic) will thereby allow me to await with tranquility the results of any and all investigations", he added on his Twitter feed, which has 75 million followers.

They said at the time of original reporting the victim did not provide police with the location of the incident or a suspect description.
