They were stranded since Sunday and officials had deployed several helicopters for search and rescue operations.

The quake, which struck the island in West Nusa Tenggara province on Sunday morning, has displaced 10,062 people, whose homes were damaged.

According to the AAP, the National Disaster Management Agency said rescuers extracted 543 hikers after the powerful quake that left 16 dead and another 350 injured.

Among the procedures applied for the affected foreign tourists was to waive the hotel charges for the next day after Sunday's strong natural disaster, which hit the popular destination island located in West Nusa Tenggara province, said the minister.

Challenging conditions, including more than 120 powerful aftershocks, meant numerous hikers were unlikely to reach the bottom...

"On behalf of the people of Singapore, I offer my heartfelt condolences to Indonesia and the families affected by the disaster".
