Not even Melmacians are safe from being resurrected for modern television consumption, as Warner Bros.is working on a reboot of ALF.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros.is now developing a revival of the series about the lovable furry alien from Melmac who found a new home on Earth with an average American family.

ALF originally aired on NBC and the network has had luck by bringing back Will and Grace for a revival season recently.

The series would "again explore the misadventures of the titular, cat-eating ALF-which stands for Alien Life Form".

Gordon Shumway, a.k.a. ALF, was voiced by Paul Fusco, who likewise operated the puppet, and co-created the series along with Tom Patchett. It's unclear at this time to what degree, if at all, he's going to be involved in the reboot. The Tanners, headed by Willie (Max Wright), Kate (Anne Schedeen), Lynn (Andrea Elson), and Brian (Benji Gregory), hide the alien from the Alien Task Force, and deal with his day-to-day shenanigans. Though the studio has yet to officially comment on the news, Warner Bros.is reportedly in the process of looking for a writer to pen the ALF reboot.

Though "ALF" been off the air for 28 years, the beloved character has remained a consistent fixture in pop culture ever since, from making an appearance in Delta's 80s-themed safety video to "ALF" references in TV shows like "Teen Titans Go!" and "The Big Bang Theory".

The series aired on NBC from September 22, 1986, to March 24, 1990 for a total of 99 episodes and ended with ALF getting caught by the Alien Task Force. The project is in its early stages and a search is underway for a writer, sources tell Deadline.
