From what has been confirmed by Epic Games, we now know that new Fortnite downtime and maintenance will commence tomorrow, July 19. That's because it replaces another submachine gun that has seen frequent use in Fortnite matches.

A new weapon has been added to Fortnite Battle Royale in this week's update.

You can expect them to go live after the Fortnite downtime, which is scheduled to begin at 9am. The Submachine Gun comes in Common, Uncommon and Rare variants and can be found in floor loot and chests. Now, what does that mean for Fortnite? Accuracy, of course, will suffer at range, and with the relatively low base damage of each bullet, you'll want as many of them to hit as possible.

Fortnite V5.0 Content Update Adds a Couple of New Weapons

Epic Games has released the patch notes for v5.0 for Fornite that changes the game in small ways. As for mobile, an autofire function has been added causing player's weapons to fire automatically when the reticle is over an enemy. New Season 5 challenges could potentially utilize the new items, and it will help players to streamline their challenge runs. It's probably a good decision as an Epic Tactical SMG in the right hands could absolutely hose a player before they could even react.

The only other change to the game this week is that the damage of the Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle has been increased from 63-66 to 75-78. The Typewriter Assault Rifle, which basically looks like Battle Royale's Drum Gun has been added. "One thing I said is "The win screen is incredible, its obviously clean, but it could be so much better", and they were like "Oh we know, and we have stuff coming".

With Fortnite's Season 5 introducing challenges that require players to reach set amounts of XP in order to unlock the full Drift outfit, many players are focusing on grinding out XP as fast as possible so they can rep the badass skin.
