Roberts said, "I know Kristen Welker of NBC".

'See, that's such dishonest reporting, ' a dismissive Trump replied, ' because - of course, it happens to be NBC, which is possibly worse than CNN!' He then called on Fox News' John Roberts, saying, "Let's go to a real network".

"No, no. John Roberts. CNN is fake news I don't take questions from CNN", Trump said into the microphone. "I don't take questions from CNN", Trump told Acosta, who's network he has long had a beef with.

That is not the first time Trump refused a CNN reporter's questions.

Trump ignored him, calling on a Fox News correspondent instead.

Though CNN-bashing is no new thing for Trump, many wondered at the fact that he went out of his way during an global press conference to insinuate that CNN is not a real network, and the fact that other media outlets allowed it to happen.

Some journalists argued that they went out of their way to defend Fox News when the right-leaning network faced pushback from President Barack Obama's White House.

Trump took offense today when Welker asked him, "Are you giving Russian President Vladimir Putin the upper hand heading into your talks given that you are challenging the alliances that he is seeking to break up and defeat?"

Roberts took heat on social media for not immediately defending Acosta - but issued a statement hours later tamping down the dust up. Reporters said they hoped Fox News would return the favor under a Republican administration.

Trump called it dishonest reporting. However, Roberts later stated that Trump's comments were "unfair".

Roberts made the remarks after initially being criticized for not immediately defending his fellow journalists when Trump called on him at the United Kingdom conference after insulting CNN. Massive protests are greeting President Trump during his two-day trip to Britain-including a 20-foot-long giant blimp depicting Trump as an angry orange baby wearing a diaper and clutching a cellphone, ready to tweet.

He noted he used to work at CNN. "There are some fine journalists who work there and risk their lives to report on stories around the world". "Next time try and show some class in the moment".
