British Prime Minister Theresa May will publish details Thursday of her long-awaited Brexit plan to restart talks with the European Union, after facing down a revolt by eurosceptic ministers that could still unseat her.
The president made the comments in an interview with the British tabloid newspaper the Sun, ahead of meetings with May and Queen Elizabeth.
Johnson isn't the only politician to have quit over May's Brexit plans, as ministers David Davis and Steve Baker also quit the government in protest.
May wants to impress Trump and use the visit to push for a trade deal with the USA after the United Kingdom leaves the European Union next year, in a process known as Brexit.
Mr Raab told the BBC Radio 4 programme Today: "When we have global free trade deals, we want to make sure we deal with things like visas as part of that".
The publication of the article coincided with Trump's first official state visit to the United Kingdom, hosted by May, following his testy two-day North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels where he made inaccurate statements on USA spending for Europe's defence. May is already believed to be dangerously close to a vote of no confidence by her party.
The EU's chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, said he would analyse the paper with member states and the European Parliament and repeated the bloc's offer for an ambitious free trade agreement with "effective cooperation" on issues. "I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn't agree, she didn't listen to me", Trump said of Brexit negotiations, adding that they were going "too slow".
But Mr Trump said the prime minister is a "very good person" denying claims he called her a bossy schoolteacher, or said she was boring.
"He thought she was great on North Atlantic Treaty Organisation today and is a really terrific person".
"He is thanful for the wonderful welcome from the Prime Minister here in the U.K".

Prime Minister Theresa May said her plan to keep close economic ties with the European Union once Britain leaves the bloc next March was "principled and pragmatic".
"I don't know if that is what they voted for", he said. "I think he is a great representative for your country".
Asked directly whether he thinks Johnson might someday replace May, he declined to comment, saying he wasn't interested in "pitting one against the other".
Johnson said the agreement was "suffocating" the Brexit dream.
