Michael Avenatti calls Stormy Daniels arrest 'politically motivated'

While Daniels was performing Wednesday night at Sirens, a strip club in Columbus, some patrons touched her in a "non-sexual" way, Avenatti told The Associated Press.

Columbus police charged Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, with three misdemeanor counts of touching a patron at a "sexually oriented" business in violation of an OH strip club law, according to online court records.

OH law says a person who performs "nude or seminude on the premises of a sexually oriented business" are not allowed to be touched by patrons.

The patron is not believed to have been detained. She allegedly performed the same act with several officers who approached the stage and forced one officer's head into her bare chest. There has to be high priorities! A person who answered the phone at the strip club declined to comment.

Her lawyer said he expected her to be released on bail soon. As NBC News reports, the Franklin's County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Daniels has been charged with three misdemeanor sex offenses. "#SetUp #Basta", Avenatti said in a second tweet. A call by Newsweek to the Columbus Police Division went unanswered.

Trump and Daniels are locked in a legal wrangle over her going public with allegations that the two had a brief affair in 2006. "It reeks of desperation", his tweet said.

Through White House officials, Mr Trump has denied the affair, although Mr Cohen has admitted paying Daniels as part of the agreement.

He says he's confident that she'll be cleared of all charges.

She is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on Friday. "We will fight all bogus charges", Avenatti wrote.

In October 2016 on the eve of the presidential election, reports emerged that Daniels had been paid $130,000 by then-Trump attorney Michael Cohen in "hush money" in exchange for her silence about an alleged 2007 affair.

Daniels sued him and Cohen for defamation after Trump accused her of lying.
