A high fence has been erected around the USA ambassador's central London residence where Trump will spend Thursday night and the embassy has sent out an alert warning Americans in London to keep a low profile in case protests turn violent.

His visit is expected to be met with a number of protests in various cities including London - where the 19-foot Trump balloon is expected to fly over Parliament on Friday.

The US Ambassador to London, Woody Johnson, insisted last week that the President's itinerary was not intentionally designed for him to avoid encountering throngs of protesters.

The Jameson in Hammersmith has rebranded itself The Trump Arms for the US President's visit.

Mr Trump and his wife Melania are expected to stay in London only for a single overnight stay at the U.S. embassy.

He will then travel to Helsinki for a summit with Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Several protests are due to take place in the capital during President Trump's visit; however, Trump will likely miss them as he will be attending events at Blenheim Palace, Prime Minister Theresa May's country home at Chequers, and Windsor Castle.

The Trumps will have left town the night before for Scotland, where the President owns two golf properties, Trump Turnberry and Trump Aberdeen.

Ahead of Mr Trump's visit, the PM said: "Our trade and investment relationship is unrivalled, we are the largest investors in each other's economies and every day a million British people go to work for US companies in the UK and a million Americans go to work for UK companies in the US".

"There is no stronger alliance than that of our special relationship with the USA and there will be no alliance more important in the years ahead".

Awaiting him on the tarmac on Thursday afternoon were three Osprey helicopters belonging to the US Marines, which are used to transport the President's staff and security detail on overseas trips.

The biggest protest will take place in central London on Friday when thousands are expected to take to the streets to join the "Stop Trump" march.
