Donald Trump's former personal driver has sued the president's family business for thousands of hours of unpaid overtime, according to a lawsuit filed in NY on Monday. The second, and final, pay rise in 2010 was only offered to him if he also gave up his health insurance.

He was Donald Trump's personal driver for 25 years ― and he's pretty sure Trump took him for a ride.

"[Cintron] was forced to work thousands of hours of overtime without compensation", the lawsuit continues.

President Donald Trump's personal driver of over 25 years is suing the Trump Organization for more than 3,000 hours of unpaid overtime over the last six years, according to Business Insider. Cintron says that he often worked 55 hours a week and was usually on the job each day at 7am.

The suit seeks $178,200 in overtime pay plus $5,000 in penalties under the state's Labor Law.

Cintron, it says, was not paid overtime for more than 20 years, but under the statute of limitations can only claim six years' worth, which the lawsuit put at a total of 3,300 hours owed at "time and one-half".

Bloomberg reported that Cintron, 59, is a registered Republican, and still works for the Trump Organization in security.

A NY man who said he was Donald Trump's personal driver for more than 20 years sued the USA president's company on Monday, claiming he was not paid for thousands of hours of overtime.

In December 2010, he was given a US$7,000 (RM28,164) raise to US$75,000 a year, but only after losing his health benefits, saving his employer almost US$18,000 a year in insurance premiums, according to the lawsuit.

Cintron's lawsuit is a little pricier than that, seeking some USD$200,000 in damages not only for the withheld backpay, but also for the allegation that the Trump Organisation failed to provide him with annual wage notices, which is required by NY state law.

A Trump Organization spokeswoman didn't immediately return a call for comment on the driver's lawsuit.

Larry Hutcher, a lawyer for Cintron, said his client had not sued sooner because he had been unaware of his rights, and that it was "regrettable" a lawsuit became necessary.
