If you own one of Samsung's Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus smartphones a wild bug making the rounds is leaving customers on edge.

A statement from the electronics giant said: "We are aware of the reports regarding this matter and our technical teams are looking into it". On Samsung's Galaxy S9 support board, a user said Samsung Messages became buggy after an T-Mobile RCS/advanced messaging update on his phone. Users experiencing this issue can call the company directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG.

For those anxious about the Samsung Messages glitch, AppleInsider recommends disabling the app's storage access permissions. "Might be worth checking logs on your carrier's site, because it happened on my T-Mobile Note 8", explains one user on Reddit.

Until Samsung gets around to identifying the problem and rolling out a fix for the same, the best way to solve this issue is to switch to another messaging app. In some cases, users reported the phone sending out normal photos, while in others the phone grabbed emojis and other image resources from the phone's storage.

There's a theory on Samsung's forums that this bug has something to do with the recent Rich Communication Services updates that carriers have been rolling out in the United States.

Samsung is due to unveil its next handset, the Galaxy Note 9, during an event in NY on 9 August.

The good news, at least as we know it, is that the photos were shared with his girlfriend who had just gotten an S9 herself.

'I think it has something to do with the Samsung SMS app being updated from the Galaxy Store. The messaging standard is supposed to make texting look more like chatting in a modern messaging app, complete with reading receipts and typing indicators. The other option is to use a different texting app like Android Messages.

You should acknowledge that doing this will prevent you from sending multimedia messages via the Messages app until you turn permissions back on.
