Priest caught on tape violently grabbing & slapping baby during baptism

Angry priest slaps baby who wouldn’t stop crying during baptism The priest initially tried to pacify the screaming child
Ellis Copeland | 22 June, 2018, 20:39

This is the shocking moment a priest slaps a hysterical baby hard across the cheek during a baptism. The date and exact location of the incident remains unclear.

The concerned father then wrestles with the priest, who put his hand over its mouth in an attempt to muffles the cries. The parents hold the baby tight while pulling him away from the priest.

The YouTube video was uploaded to Reddit on Thursday and sparked a torrent of outrage from viewers the world over, many furious that a trusted religious official would do such a thing. It is not known where in France this baptism took place or what the name of the priest is.

According to the poster, the baby starts crying and the priest points and says: "This is called a tantrum". I will spill water on the forehead, hmm?

"And then, I'll kiss the little kid - because he'll have become a little Christian".

The child would not relent and the cleric began saying, "Calm down, calm down, you must calm down". I will scream louder than you. After he fails to calm the child down, the priest ends up slapping the child, uttering the words "Calm down" in front of the toddler's surprised and shocked parents.

The priest was heard saying afterwards: "There, you have to calm yourself, you have to calm yourself, there, there". Dozens of comments have been left below the original video expressing dismay at the priest's actions.
