Gareth Southgate Dislocates Shoulder

England boss Gareth Southgate dislocates shoulder in Russia Gareth Southgate becomes first major injury casualty of England's World Cup campaign

Gareth Southgate dislocated his right shoulder while out running during England's scheduled day off from training and was taken to the hospital by a team doctor.

In stoppage-time, the victor came when Kieran Trippier's corner was headed on by Harry Maguire and nodded home at the back post by the England captain.

England are now level on points with Belgium at the top of Group G after both won their opening games.

The England manager will also have to decide whether to stick with Raheem Sterling in attack, despite his disappointing display, or bring in the in-form Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

"England are a bit more direct than Belgium".

"She convinced me to go to QPR, and it was probably the best decision I ever made".

The 23-year-old, without an England goal since October 2015, has had to put up with a lot in the build-up to Russian Federation and was replaced by Rashford after 68 minutes in Volgograd. It showed a plan to play in a 3-5-2 formation against Panama, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek in place of Alli in midfield.

He is England's most in-form player and was handed the captaincy ahead of the World Cup because his place in the starting XI is without question, simply because he has a track record of producing the goods.

Maguire, Stones and Kane, in particular, offer an aerial threat at set-pieces which England believe they can fully exploit.

However, it looks likely that Gareth Southgate will need to find a replacement.

Just watch the long throws.

As with their first game in Volgograd, they now travel to searing heat in Nizhny Novgorod, where the temperature will soar into the 30s.

"We always talk about games and how we can improve and what he thinks in those situations because he has done it so many times". That was something else. I'd be saying to my mum, "Why are they picking on me?"

"Let's talk about the other night".

The sight of the normally reserved national team boss going a bit berserk at Harry Kane's injury time victor was absolutely magnificent as he punched the air in delight.

He will have to be more restrained, on the outside at least, should England score against Panama, having to protect that dislocated shoulder.
