Under the plans, the NHS budget, which now stands at £114 billion, will increase by an average of 3.4 percent a year.
Responding to the Prime Minister's announcement the three health think thanks have described it as "worrying" and "not quite all it seems" as it doesn't include any mention of funding for public health programmes, social care, or things like hospital buildings and staff training.
In what is her biggest and boldest policy announcement since her election disaster past year, the PM announced the extra money for the NHS to mark its 70th birthday.
