De Gea wants Spain's PM to offer public apology

David de Gea FIFA World Cup: Goalkeeper David De Gea Demands Public Apology From Spain Prime Minister

De Gea's focus was hampered during Spain's last appearance at a major global tournament when his name became linked with a sexual assault case in the build-up to UEFA Euro 2016.

Sanchez apologised for the comments when visiting Spain's training camp last week, but De Gea said he is still awaiting a public apology.

The 27-year-old has come on leaps and bounds over the last three years and many believe that De Gea should be regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world - ahead of Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer, who missed the majority of last season through injury. "The issue is that what he said back in the day was in public and that is why I think the apology should also be a public one", De Gea was quoted as saying by Diario AS.

David de Gea spoke out about his taste in music in the Old Trafford dressing room and added that he may get banned for the music he plays for the other players. It's very important to have a good World Cup and I hope we can go far and win - that would be unbelievable.

There is talk of De Gea, rated as one of the best in the world, jumping ship from Man United to Real Madrid. But I'm always calm and come my way, I will continue to be the same.

The allegations were later found to be false and De Gea and Atletic Bilbao midfielder Iker Muniain, the other player implicated in the scandal - were not called to provide evidence by the judge in the case.

Tuesday forecast: Cooler but still hot and humid
The weekend features a more typical summer pattern with highs in the upper 80s and only isolated shower/storm chances on Sunday . Beyond Wednesday , rain chances become minimal as high temperatures creep back into the 90s for the second half of the week.

"I think for a time I was not treated as I should have been. I just want to be 100 percent focused on the World Cup".

"Many people criticised me, knowing that what they said wasn't correct, but then they have not had the courage to rectify it".

De Gea said his full focus was now on the World Cup.

"We are very excited, there is a good team, a good group".
