The California headquartered social networking company has been given time till June 20 to respond to the fresh letter by the government.

Recently, Cambridge Analytica's ex-CEO Alexander Nix, clashed with British lawmakers as he denied his firm was unethical.

Today, the Knicks changed his testimony and said he had heard from Kogan.

However, such reports raise uncomfortable questions about the assurances made by Facebook, the government said.

In lengthy, and often testy, questioning by MPs, Nix apologised for an undercover film in which he said Cambridge Analytica's online campaign played a decisive role in Trump's election win.

But he defended the now-defunct consultancy's reputation and said he felt victimized.

MPs asked Nix to return to face questions about inconsistencies in his evidence.

"The negativity that has been swirling around social media's use of our personal data since the Cambridge Analytica scandal broke is clearly impacting on Brits' decisions to use and rely upon these platforms".

"At that stage we had deleted all of that data, but, on listening back to the transcript, it was clear I was asked whether we had ever been supplied with that data and my answer should have been yes", he said.

Facebook said Kogan then violated its policies by passing the data to Cambridge Analytica. Nix admitted to that he had made the exaggerated claims in order to attract what he thought was a potential client.

On Wednesday he told Channel 4: 'I actually backed up everything I said with documents.

Nix said that Channel 4 had heavily edited the footage to portray him in a worse light. "The Government of India is deeply concerned about reports of such lapses / violations".

On other matters, Nix was less apologetic.

Christopher Wylie, the whistleblower who exposed the relations between Cambridge Analytica and the data firms was, he warned, spreading a damaging and misleading conspiracy theory. Channel 4 says the documentary conveyed all of Mr.
