This movie is set to ignore all movies involving Michael from possibly Halloween II (although some say it includes second film in the canon) and beyond, stripping him of his cult story-line and supernatural abilities and possibly of the familial relation to Laurie Strode. I certainly hope so. Carpenter has his hands in the movie as executive producer, so it will be true to the canon he has created.
This will be the eleventh installment in the movie franchise - picking up forty years after the original, It's basically a straight-up sequel to the 1978 classic and disregards any of the previous sequels or the Rob Zombie spin-offs.
