German police are cautioning residents in the western town of Luenebach to stay inside their homes after an undetermined number of lions and pumas broke out of a local zoo.

The bear escaped from the 30-hectare (75-acre) zoo grounds into the rolling hills of the Eifel region and had to be shot, Raskopp said.

According to German media, the animals were able to escape after flooding caused by an overnight storm.

A large search operation was carried out, involving the fire services, the police and veterinarians, the spokesman said.

Tristan Thompson's 'legendary' LeBron James expectation could play in Celtics' favor
After a very lackluster Game 1 (37.75 fantasy points), some are already questioning his ability to lead Cleveland in this series . However, the Celtics are a dominant 14-2 ATS in their last 16 home games and I think that trend continues in this one.

A big three consisting of James, Paul and James Harden could be enough to dethrone Golden State in the Western Conference. Before the Celtics series, I begged Coach Lue to go with Tristan Thompson at the 5 and shift Kevin Love to the 4.

Exact details of how the animals managed to escape or exactly when they got out were not clear.

A drone deployed to find the missing beasts - two lions, two tigers and a jaguar - finally located them within their caged areas, said regional authorities.

Part of a local motorway had been blocked off due to high waters, and a train was derailed although no injuries were reported. The five big cats were found within the confines of the park and were recaptured in the afternoon.

Friday's escape came two years after a similar case in eastern Germany, when two lions broke out of their cages at the Leipzig zoo.
