- Starbucks once again in the middle of racism accusations after a racial slur was printed on a customer's cup.

According to Priscilla Hernandez, her co-worker, identified only as Pedro, went to a coffeehouse to get drinks for the two of them - a thing they usually do every morning.

The customer has alleged he was handed a coffee with the word "beaner" printed on its label instead of his name, Peter, at a Starbucks location in La Cañada Flintridge, California, a friend told CBS2 News.

"I did not accept it because it's an insult to everyone, that they want to buy you with a $50 gift card", he told the Los Angeles TV station.

Apparently the Starbucks worker understood the man say "Venti White Mocha" and "Venti Ice Caramel Macchiato", but not his name Pedro.

But she said that when he brought back the drinks, she noticed that "beaner" was written on her drink instead of Pedro.

Hernandez followed up with a complaint to Starbucks on Twitter. "This is not the welcoming experience we aim to provide, and we have reached out to this customer to apologize and make this right", a Starbucks representative named Ryan tweeted in response. She said the manager was very apologetic and promised to investigate the incident.

A Starbucks spokesperson told CNN the two met with the company's leadership team and said Pedro had accepted their apology. Starbucks has not responded to multiple requests for additional comment.

Starbucks announced in April it plans to close more than 8,000 stores in the USA on May 29th for racial education training. The two men, Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson, were waiting for a business meeting they scheduled at the store. As part of a settlement with the men, Starbucks and the city agreed to support a $200,000 initiative to encourage young entrepreneurs.
