Dominic Solanke Steven Gerrard secures second Rangers signing

Steven Gerrard doesn't officially take charge of the Scottish side until July 1st but the Liverpool legend has been working tirelessly since his appointment was confirmed earlier this month.

Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is ready to continue his efforts in the transfer window this summer and has identified West Ham United's Reece Burke as his next target, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

Midfielder Scott Arfield arrived from Burnley despite playing an important role for club this season while Allan McGregor has returned to his former club from Hull City to strengthen the goalkeeping position.

Even though Defoe now sits with two years left to run on a contract with Bournemouth worth around £80,000-a-week, Gerrard remains hopeful of landing the 35-year-old.

Rangers are now thought to be at the front of that particular queue, with the report claiming that Gerrard's friendship with manager Jurgen Klopp may just make a move to Rangers a possibility for Solanke.

The striker still finds himself behind Roberto Firmino though, and with Liverpool looking for another attacker, Solanke could be farmed out in order to gain first-team experience elsewhere.

Also linked with moves to Ibrox this summer are Gerrard's former teammates on Merseyside, Martin Skrtel and Lucas Leiva.

Lucas has had an impressive season with the Serie A heavyweights, making 35 league appearances out of a possible 37.

"If you keep doing that, as we've seen before, that's what wins you titles".
