The Jordanian government Wednesday condemned the decision made by Guatemala to move its embassy to Jerusalem, following the United States move.

"This is the beginning of something extraordinary, or I would say, the re-beginning of something extraordinary, which is the relationship between Guatemala and Israel", the Times of Israel reported, citing Netanyahu, as saying. "You were the second country to recognise Israel", Netanyahu said at the ceremony, referring to its founding in 1948.

Netanyahu noted that Guatemala was the second country behind the United States to recognize Israel's independence after the partition vote in the United Nations. Paraguay has also announced that it would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem by the end of May.

Netanyahu said that this move goes "hand in hand" with opening two days ago of the USA embassy in the capital.

Turkey has expressed outrage over the killing by Israeli forces on Monday of 60 Palestinians during protests and clashes on the Gaza border and also blamed tensions on the USA decision to move its embassy for Israel to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. It sees the entire city as its capital.

Since Monday, Israeli occupation forces have killed 65 Palestinians who were protesting against the embassy move in the besieged Gaza Strip and injured thousands more in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

On Wednesday, a day after expelling Israel's ambassador in response to the Gaza deaths, Turkey ordered the Israeli consul general in Istanbul to return home.

European foreign ministries on Monday slammed the United States decision to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, saying it violates global law, is unwise and is likely to exacerbate tensions.
