Facebook Messenger is now forcing some users to check their privacy settings

Facebook revamps 'Bookmarks' section to easily access settings Facebook comes under attack for tracking internet users who don't have a Facebook account

In Kenya, NASA leader Raila Odinga, who lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to sue Cambridge Analytica and Facebook for running "devilish" propaganda against him during the last general elections.

An academic study published at the Charles II University of Madrid in February 2018 examined the frequency with which Facebook collected, stored, and processed sensitive categories of personal data for advertising purposes. And to get people to join (or re-join) the site.

In the post, Facebook's Product Management Director, David Baser, set himself up to answer questions that were neither hard nor related to the most pressing issues facing the company, much like the testimony given by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg last week. "We also get information about which website or app you're using, which is necessary to know when to provide our tools".

The current imbroglio has to do with Facebook becoming too aggressive in the personal data it collects - for example, through some apps it logs users' text and cellphone histories.

It looks like Facebook is still shedding light on the types of data it is collecting. He says that Facebook doesn't sell this data and uses only it only to offer suitable content to you just like how other companies do. Facebook Social Plugins such as Like and Share buttons are used by third-party apps and websites to make the site appear more social and also help share the website's content on the Facebook.

Finally, Facebook says the data it receives can help improve the content and ads shown in the app, such as more sports-related content for users who demonstrate an interest in sports.

In his post, Baser explained in detail how Facebook gathers information about you - it's basically a reminder of why nobody should be shocked when something you might have been looking up elsewhere then shows up as an ad on Facebook.

The case is Force et al v Facebook Inc, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 18-397. It's not that the company's current status as the dominant social network or Zuckerberg's absolute control of it is under serious siege; it's that Facebook may find it harder and harder to dominate whatever comes next-as Microsoft did after it became the target of growing public criticism and an antitrust action in the late 1990s. "It's not a binary thing, it's not about switching it on or off". During this week's hearings Zuckerberg talked about users having informed consent but that's not happening in the courts.

If you want to strap a parachute to your body and throw yourself out of a plane, you have to do some paperwork first. "But that's subjective. At the moment, we don't have those three points addressed".

As per the developers, the new changes are targeted at centralising a variety of controls that were earlier previously located in other places, such as Account Settings, Privacy Shortcuts, News Feed Preferences, Activity Log and Payments Settings.

So you think that you're pretty smart because you never signed up for a Facebook account.
