Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first against host Sri Lanka in the 3rd T20I of the tri-nation Nidahas Trophy at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Saturday.

Bangladesh were desperate for a win to break a T20 losing streak of five matches.

The match got delayed by 15 minutes due to rain and wet outfield. Liton had smashed five sixes and two fours.

Pradeep had given just three runs off the first four balls to leave Bangladesh needing 16 runs to win off the last eight.

Former captain Mushfiqur Rahim led Bangladesh with an unbeaten 72 off 35 deliveries.

After openers Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis set the tone for an imposing total, Kusal Perera continued his stellar form in the tournament scoring a belligerent 74 off 48 balls to lead Sri Lanka huge 214 for 6, after Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah made a decision to bowl first under overcast conditions.

The local team Sri Lanka started the match very destructively and dominated the Tigers bowlers completely. Sri Lanka will be high on confidence going into their second game after they surprised team India in the tournament opener, courtesy a Kushal Perera special.

In the first match of the tournament, this Sri Lanka defeated India by 5 wickets. "This result shows how good we are as a team", Chandimal said.

Pressure mounted on the Tigers when they lost the other opener Tamim Iqbal (47 off 30) halfway through the huge chase.

Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka had given Sri Lanka a blazing start with the fifty coming in the fourth over. Tharanga was unbeaten on 32. That set the tone for a big total and even though Mustafizur Rahman cleaned up Gunathilaka, the hosts were sitting pretty at the halfway stage at 98 for one.

Captain and part-time spinner Mahmudullah Riyad checked the run flow with two wickets in an over, claiming Mendis and Dasun Shanaka (0), both batsmen caught by Sabbir Rahman.
