It is more than six months after the Foreign Office lifted its advice against non-essential travel to the north African country.

The first Tunisian holiday sold to United Kingdom customers will begin on Tuesday, flying from Birmingham and landing in Enfidha.

But this advice was lifted from the majority of the North African country previous year.

As soon as the FCO decision was made public, travel agencies like Thomas Cook flew British tourists to Tunisian holiday resorts.

In the aftermath Thomas Cook did not stop selling trips to French, German and Belgian holidaymakers because their governments did not advise against their citizens visiting Tunisia.

The year before the 2015 terrorist attack in Sousse that claimed 38 lives and left 39 wounded, 430,000 British holidaymakers had travelled to Tunisia with tour operators.

Thirty-eight tourists, including 30 Britons, were killed in June 2015 when gunman Seifeddine Rezgui opened fire at the five-star Riu Imperial Marhaba Hotel.

Other British travel agencies are also resuming their Tunisian holiday packages like TUI which will relaunch its flight to Tunisia in May 2018.

In 2014, some 440,000 people from the United Kingdom visited Tunisia, according to the Office for National Statistics.

"The Foreign Office no longer advises against all but essential travel to certain parts of Tunisia, as a result some United Kingdom travel companies are now offering holidays to destinations in Tunisia".
