Senators Call Out Susan Rice for 'Unusual Email'

Senators flag 'unusual' Susan Rice email on Russia probe from Inauguration Day Days before leaving White House Obama questioned the sharing of intel with Trump
Ellis Copeland | 15 February, 2018, 07:05

The White House on Tuesday said an email that former national security adviser Susan Rice sent herself on President Donald Trump's Inauguration Day "raises a lot of serious questions". "He's been victimized by the Obama Administration who were using all sorts of.agencies, not just the FBI & DOJ, now the State Department to dig up dirt on him in the days leading up to the Election, '" Trump said Saturday in a pair of tweets, quoting from a Fox News interview given by Tom Fitton, the president of the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch.

"President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the intelligence and law enforcement communities 'by the book, '" Rice wrote in an e-mail to herself.

The email was referencing a January 5 Oval Office meeting Rice attended with Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, FBI Director James Comey and Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates.

The day following that January 5 meeting where the four leaders of the intelligence community-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, CIA Director John Brennan, NSA Director Adm. Mike Rogers and Comey-officially presented Obama with the Steele dossier, the same four briefed President-elect Trump at Trump Tower on the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

During the meeting the officials discussed withholding certain information from the Trump transition team regarding the Russian government.

White House principal deputy press secretary Raj Shah told "Fox & Friends" Tuesday that the email suggests the Obama administration "didn't operate by the book". 'Comey said he would'.

In their letter, the senators served Rice with a slate of questions regarding the email and the meeting it concerned. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Monday, looked like "an effort by Susan Rice to reconstruct history".

The Senate Judiciary Committee would like to know which of these possibilities is the truth.

It would pave a path to citizenship for up to 1.8 million young "Dreamer" immigrants in the US illegally, a lure for Democrats. The White House has repeatedly claimed DACA recipients have until March 5 to worry about being at risk of deportation.

Grassley and Graham noted in a letter to Rice that they found the timing of the email unusual.

Graham said he wonders what Obama and Rice knew about the FISA warrant used to spy on Trump campaign officials and how it was granted based on a "political" dossier funded by hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

As WND reported, talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh contends that the apparent corruption of high-ranking officials in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Justice Department and other intelligence agencies to help Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election was all about protecting Obama.

The senator suggested Rice's email was really an effort by Obama to "get himself on the record through Susan Rice" about his concern that the Russian Federation investigation be "by the book".

"All of this is", Limbaugh said during his February 7 show.

Limbaugh noted the revelation that a September 2016 text to FBI agent Peter Strzok from his co-worker and paramour, Lisa Page, said Obama "wants to know everything we're doing" related to the Russian Federation investigation.
