The reality star, originally from Brazil underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2014.

The news of her "death" was posted on her Twitter account and quickly prompted a deluge of tributes for the transgender reality TV contestant.

Earlier we reported that the Rebekah Shelton, star of Big Brother in 2009 had died, it turns out, thankfully, that she is alive and well and living in Dubai.

She said: "Hi everyone, I would just like to ask everyone to stop spreading rumours that I'm dead because obviously I'm not".

Rebekah added: "My lawyer is already working on this and this person who wants to spoil my happiness is going to pay for it!"

The 32-year-old appeared on Big Brother in 2009, when she was known as Rodrigo Lopes.

Trans Big Brother star Rebekah Shelton is not dead, as she confirms in a video she was a victim of hacking. I am in Arabia and I am not dead.

Apparently her experience with surgery hasn't always been entirely positive, and during an appearance on Judge Rinderin 2016 she revealed that she'd be struggling to cope after botched breast surgery.

Big Brother legend Nikki Grahame went into the house during Rebekah's series as part of a task.

"The only thing I wish is that that my family will learn to accept me", she told the publication.

'I lost friends, it divided my family and I had to undergo 16 surgeries.

She appeared on the show as a man, but after she left she went through transition and said that it was sparked when she met a man she was in love with. It's a hard decision.

"You have to face your family, you have to face society, you have to face jobs because people don't give opportunities".

"I wasn't happy with the person I was..." I started crying in the corridor saying, "I regret it, I regret it".

Giving her advice to others who may be in a similar situation, she said: "I would say to them, don't look at me and think, oh she looks incredible, I want to be like her".

'So many times I wanted to kill myself because I had no one to talk to'.
