The 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, kicks off in just a month. According to Variety, NBC has partnered with Intel to set up multiple camera pods to create interactive 360-degree VR environments. Thanks to NBC, you can simply stream the events on your VR device.

What's more, the collection will be available online and in select stores on January 15 - before the Winter Olympics even begin!

On-Demand Highlights: Post-event, on-demand 3- to 5-minute features will be available showcasing the best moments from each event.

A team of researchers, led by Daniel Scott, a geography professor at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, came to that conclusion by taking climate data from previous Winter Games locations and applying climate-change models to predict future winter weather conditions.

UK Sport has more than doubled investment in winter sports since Sochi, putting up a total of £32m over the four years leading up to the 2018 Games.

The experience will also follow Team Intel athletes as they prepare and compete.

By making the content available in VR, NBC looks to appeal to a wider audience and buck the trend of declining Olympics viewership.

ParalympicsGB won six medals at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, and they have been given a target of at least seven medals.

The Olympic games are scheduled for February 8 to 25 and the Paralympic games March 9 to 18.

Audiences can also use the BBC Sport app for mobile and tablet devices, available to download for free.

Regardless, the move to broadcast the Winter Olympics in VR still allows NBC to continue to enhance its digital presence and adjust to the broader trend of viewers vying for digital alternatives in place of linear TV.
