USA law firm accuses Ford of rigging trucks to cheat emission tests

Ford diesel F-150 targets Ram Nissan offerings Ford Motor Company set to launch diesel truck
Orlando Vargas | 12 January, 2018, 18:56

That 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine in the F-Series Super Duty trucks has been a market victor for the company; and there's been talk of a diesel in the lighter truck class for some time.

Super Duty or Super Dirty?

More recently, German prosecutors investigating whether carmaker Daimler manipulated emission tests on its diesel cars have looked at whether Bosch was involved.

Ford is coming under fire for alleged emissions test cheating, with the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks the targets of a lawsuit from a group of owners.

The suit, which seeks class-action status, adds Ford to the growing list of companies facing claims of cheating on diesel emissions testing.

Hagens Berman has handled similar cases against Fiat Chrysler, Mercedes, General Motors and Volkswagen, whose lawsuit also named Bosch.

LG adds Google AI in 'smart home' push
Google sold more than 6 million Google Home devices in the 2017 holiday season, Business Insider reported . One way Google is reportedly looking to do that is by launching a revamped online store in February.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of MI, also names German auto supplier Robert Bosch GmbH as a defendant.

"Ford's top selling Super Duty vehicles often emit far more pollution on the road than in the emissions-certification testing environment".

Ford is, of course, just one of numerous carmakers alleged to have cheated on emissions testing with their diesel engines.

The lawsuit could cast some doubt on Ford's claims.

"All Ford vehicles, including those with diesel engines, comply with all U.S. EPA and (California Air Resources Board) emissions regulations". In an emailed statement, the automaker said, "Ford vehicles do not have defeat devices. We will defend ourselves against these baseless claims", according to a statement sent by Ford spokesman Mike Levine. "As a matter of policy, and due to the sensitive legal nature of these matters, Bosch will not comment further concerning matters under investigation and in litigation".

However, the law firm said that Ford marketed and sold these trucks as the "cleanest Super Diesel ever", and said it used "proven technology and innovative Ford strategies to meet the latest federal emissions standards".
