UCF challenges Alabama to game with Tuscaloosa billboard

Thousands expected at downtown Orlando block party for unbeaten UCF Knights Gov. Rick Scott declares UCF national champions

The University of Central Florida has beaten Auburn.

Yes, that is a billboard in Tuscaloosa - paid for by UCF fans - essentially challenging Alabama to a home-and-home series with the Knights. The billboard read: "Congratulations Alabama!"

Alabama is your national champion. UCF finished the season 13-0 and were ranked 6th in the final College Football Playoff Standings.

Soren Petro, a radio show host in Kansas City, inexplicably gave UCF their lowest ranking at No. 10 behind teams such as Auburn (which UCF obviously beat head-to-head) and Miami (which lost their home bowl game). And don't underestimate Nick Saban's ability to drum up the "disrespect" angle as well. Sure, UCF had a memorable season. "I mean, I'm fine with it", he went on. Rick Scott issued a proclamation declaring the Knights as national champions as well.

The original plan was to buy a billboard in Atlanta for Monday's College Football Playoff Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia. SEC fans can laugh all they want, but you can't argue with UCF until Alabama beats them. And UCF is the series victor. The Knights received four first-place votes and were one of just two teams to receive first-place votes. Murphy said she is glad that they can put their political differences aside and have playful jest. A future meeting of the teams would do nothing to change the outcome of 2017, but it'd still be fun, and fun things are good.
