Actor and YouTube celebrity Logan Paul apologised for posting a video of a suicide victim in Japan that reportedly was viewed by six million people before being deleted.

The video showed him and his friends at the Aokigahara forest at the base of Mount Fuji, known to be a frequent site of suicides, the BBC said.

In addition, YouTube is putting on hold projects it had in development with Paul, including a sequel to "The Thinning", a sci-fi series Paul developed for the YouTube Red subscription service.

YouTube also said it had put on hold original projects with the United States vlogger.

The report comes just after YouTube confirmed it was removing Logan Paul from the Google Preferred group, which could reportedly slash his ad revenue by 50 percent.

YouTube has chosen to police its creators more than ever before after last year's ad-pocalypse, which began as advertisers pulled their ads from YouTube after learning some ran in front of extremist and offensive content. "None of us knew how to react or how to feel", the star said in a video message. You're right to be. He posted two apology videos for his 15 million subscribers and announced a break from YouTube to reflect on his actions. The company added that Paul's new video blogs on the website are now on hold.

There is something deeply disturbing about the notion that this is where civilization has brought us - to an epoch in which 22-year-olds are visiting suicide sites to make unfiltered reaction videos in search of YouTube clicks and money.

According to Polygon, YouTube has removed Paul from its preferred partners program, meaning that his content will no longer be bundled in to those easy-to-buy packages for brand advertisers. The video in question was taken down by Paul within 24 hours, but it had already gained 6 million views.

The video, posted on December 31, was titled "We found a dead body in the Japanese Suicide Forest..." and included Paul shouting "Yo, are you alive?"

On the 9 of January, YouTube's staff posted an official apology, declaring that it expects so much more from its content creators and that this sort of facetious attitude is only blamable but that it affects the entire community as well. The video drew swift condemnation from other YouTubers and public figures, and Paul removed it after a few hours.
