State Department overhauls travel warning system for Americans overseas

The United States unveiled a travel advisory on Wednesday urging its citizens to reconsider their plans provided they were visiting Pakistan, citing multiple security-related issues. The State Department's website says this designation is earned due to "health attacks directed at U.S. Embassy Havana employees" over the past several months, and Bernier-Toth said this is being taken seriously. Travel Advisories apply up to four standard levels of advice, give a description of the risks, and provide clear actions US citizens should take to help ensure their safety.

Travelers headed to a level three country are advised to reconsider travel and avoid it due to serious risk and security.

Georgia is listed in the first level, meaning that it is one of the safest countries to travel.

Specifically, Level 1 is "Exercise Normal Precautions"; Level 2 "Exercise Increased Caution; Level 3 "Reconsider Travel"; and Level 4 "Do Not Travel"".

Placing India on Level 2, the US State Department identified "crime and terrorism" for Americans to exercise increased caution.

Spoiler Alert: This Is How Kylie Jenner Will Allegedly Announce Her Pregnancy
We must admit there has been a huge Kylie sized hole left in the gossip news but maybe this is what she has always wanted. She has family and friends come to her house instead so she has company.

Additionally, reasons for travel advisories will be attached to letters, such as C for crime, T for terrorism, H for heath issues, U for civil unrest and O for other. Level one is for "exercising normal precaution". North Korea, Somalia, Libya and Yemen are among those in the red "do not travel" category.

The State Department's new, four-tier travel advisory system replaces the previous system of travel warnings and travel alerts.

The arch-nemesis of world's superpower, North Korea is also in Level Four, with the additional restriction that U.S. law prohibits American travellers from using their passports there, effectively banning visits to the Kim led-state.

The changes come at a time of global upheaval that's hard for many travelers to keep tabs on, but also a time of increased travel -- 2017 was on track to be a record year for the number of Americans traveling overseas. USA government employees are prohibited from traveling to the entire state, including Acapulco.

E - Time-limited Event: Short-term event, such as elections, sporting events, or other incidents that may pose safety risks. Read the country's Travel Advisory for details. Country pages on the site will continue to include all travel information now available, including details about entry/exit requirements, local laws and customs, health conditions, transportation, and other relevant topics.
