A 23-year-old woman had a harrowing time when an Ola driver trapped her in the cab using the child lock and tried to molest her on Sunday night.
Cab aggregator Ola on Wednesday said it has suspended one of its drivers after a woman from Bengaluru filed a complaint alleging that he locked her up in the vehicle and misbehaved with her.
The Ola cab driver had also threatened the passenger against complaining saying that Ola firm doesn't pay heed to such complaints'.
"But I realised that the child lock was on".
The driver reportedly kept calling her until she blocked her number. Ola, in an official statement, said: "We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during her ride". The incident allegedly took place on Intermediate Ring Road, while the victim was on her way to Koramangala.
It said the customer has been asked to lodge a formal complaint with the authorities. It was when the vehicle reached the Intermediate Ring Road that the driver allegedly attempted to sexually assault her, while she was in the backseat of the auto.
"I immediately started banging the car's windows with my fist in an attempt to make noise".
She then ran few hundred meters until she could find an auto-rickshaw.
The police said that they came to know about the incident through the media and that no complaint had been filed in any police station in Bengaluru south-east where the alleged incident took place. "Safety of customers is our priority and we will continue to extend our full support to this investigation against the said driver". Reacting to this incident, Ola in a statement on Wednesday said the company has zero tolerance to such incidents and had suspended the driver just after receiving the complaint.
