The press conference was held amid the influx of Rohingya people into Bangladesh who have fleeing violence in Myanmar since August 25 following insurgent attacks in Rakhine state.

The Rohingya crisis is both a humanitarian and security issue, Bangladesh minister Mohammed Shahriar Alam said today, without ruling out the possibility of links between Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and foreign terror groups.

One of the organisers and spokesperson of the Freedom & Justice Group Irbard Ibrahim said they will deliver a petition to the Israeli Embassy in Ghana to end the sale of weapons to Myanmar.

According to a Iranian news agency, Baqeri and Bajwa said that military and non-military organisations of Muslim countries could mobilise their forces and facilities to speed up the dispatch of humanitarian relief to the persecuted Muslims in Myanmar.

This comes after the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday reiterated his call for Muslims from Myanmar's Rakhine state to be granted nationality or at least a legal status that would allow them to lead a normal life, while also urging the global community to help provide assistance for the almost 380,000 people who have fled to Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, an unidentified Rohingya Muslim said Rakhine Buddhists had threatened to kill them, Al Jazeera reported.

Myanmar's military alleges that Rohingya militants attacked army bases in the state, however, has come under widespread criticism for targeting civilians.

Aung San Suu Kyi, the celebrated de facto leader of Myanmar, has come under harsh global criticism for failing to speak out against the violence.

The refugees are fleeing a fresh security operation in which security forces and Buddhist mobs have killed men, women and children, looted homes, and torched Rohingya villages.

Sheikh Hasina, while on a visit to the Kutupalong refugee camp on Tuesday, said Bangladesh would offer the refugees temporary shelter and aid, but that Myanmar should soon "take their nationals back". Most have been lifted in recent years as the generals have allowed a partial transition to democracy.

"The people who were trying to flee the Rakhine state.some of them actually took videos and photos and we are hosting at least three injured individuals who lost their legs and other body parts in mine blasts".

Ms Suu Kyi caused outrage when she said the world should be wary of misinformation about what she called Rohingya terrorists. Four of the recipients, including Suu Kyi, are also recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Other Rohingya Muslims say that because relatives are denied basic freedoms such as access to mobile phones it has been impossible to make contact.
