'Game of Thrones' Season 7, Episode 5: High Drama and New Arrivals

'Game of Thrones' Season 7, Episode 5: High Drama and New Arrivals 'Game of Thrones' Season 7, Episode 5: High Drama and New Arrivals

Tonight's episode was full of shocking moments including Dany delivering her spine chilling ultimatum to the Lannister soldiers and Jon Snow meeting Drogon for the first time.

We can't exactly blame you for forgetting Gendry, played by Joe Dempsie; we haven't seen him on GoT since way back in Season 3. So if you're not buying the Targaryen reason for Drogon's liking Jon Snow, then maybe it's because Jon's a wight animated by fire.

Bran, as the Three-Eyed Raven, sees the White Walkers continue their march toward Eastwatch.

After stopping by Eastwatch, the eastern-most post along The Wall, they also picked up Tormund, The Hound and his Brotherhood companions.

During Thrones' first season, we're given expository glimpses into the war that put Robert Baratheon on the Iron Throne. But Cersei has to know that just the thing to motivate an increasingly hopeless Jaime is a future that seems worth fighting for. It veritably zipped along, bringing characters back we thought were rowing forever (hi, Gendry) and informing us that Rhaegar and Lyanna may have been married (thanks, Gilly). This is also an episode that could centralize most of its action on a central location. There's the eerie, dead-eyed look Cersei shoots Jaime when he tells her he met with their little brother, and their embrace when the Queen tells the Kinglsayer she's pregnant.

Jon received one of the scrolls at Dragonstone, where he learned Arya and Bran were still alive.

Here's a big question I have for you guys - now that we know the marriage was legitimate the entire idea of Robert's Rebellion is a farce too.

Somehow Arya has gone from being Neo once he understood all the secrets in the Matrix at the beginning of Season Seven, to being an ordinary teenage girl again. (Not that many viewers expected him to.) Still unexplained is how he made it back up to the surface with all the armor and a golden hand but I guess that river had fortuitous currents.

What's on the paper given to Baelish?

Following leaving King's Landing, Gendry and the rest of those recruits are captured by Lannister forces that are hunting him down for most of the second season.

At Winterfell, Arya stalked Littlefinger through the halls as he did something sketchy, acquiring the "only copy" of some document and saying it was on behalf of Lady Stark.

The clear attempt here is to create dissension between the sisters. Worse, Drogon burned up the grain she was counting on to feed her people, and as a monarch, she knows she needs the good will of her people. Classic Jon Snow. Always knows nothin'. It focused on character and nudged the plot along without being too slow. You see massive armies colliding in the North, with both the White Walkers and The Night King being present there.
