The crisis had been triggered by a shooting Sunday in which an Israeli embassy guard killed two Jordanians after one attacked him with a screwdriver.
The news of the emerging deal on Monday night had been preceded by a comment from Israel's United Nations ambassador Danny Danon, who told The Associated Press that he believes the standoff with Jordan over the killing of two Jordanians by an Israeli security guard near Israel's embassy in Amman will be resolved "shortly".
"The incident in Jordan has a potential of disrupting the relations between the two countries", said Oded Eran, a former Israeli ambassador to Jordan. "I told both of them (the guard and Israel's ambassador to Jordan, Einat Shalin) that we are holding ongoing contacts with security and government officials in Amman, on all levels, in order to bring the incident to a close as quickly as possible".
