Al-Bashir suspends Sudan's talks with US Al-Bashir suspends Sudan's talks with US

Al-Bashir issued an order stating, "Freezing the work of the negotiation committee with the United States of America until October 12, 2017", reported the Anadolu news agency. He and his government had previously said they met all requirements and expected sanctions to be lifted, although activists and opposition disagreed.

The move comes one day after the United States said it had postponed for three months a decision on whether to permanently lift sanctions imposed on Sudan, partly over concern about human rights issues [nL8N1K256J].

Temporary sanctions relief took effect immediately, and was to become permanent on Wednesday unless the Trump administration acted to stop it. EO 13761 originally required the report to be delivered by July 12, 2017, but President Trump's new order pushes that deadline back to October 12, 2017.

"The administration recognises Sudan has made significant progress in these areas in the last six months, but the administration decided it needed more time to review Sudan's actions".

EasyJet to set up Austrian base to operate European Union flights after Brexit
EasyJet said its new structure would be made up of three subsidiary companies in Austria, Switzerland and Britain. Current rules state airlines operating inside the European Union must be majority owned by EU nationals.

The announcement came a day after US President Donald Trump chose to delay a decision to lift sanctions that have been imposed on Khartoum since 1997. They included resolving internal military conflicts in areas such as war-torn Darfur, cooperating on counter-terrorism and improving access to humanitarian aid.

Sudan has been under US financial sanctions since the 1990s, when it was briefly home to Osama Bin Laden and accused of sponsoring terrorism.

Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour showed his regret at the US decision despite Khartoum's commitment to implement its conditions for a five-track peace deal.
