Trump lashes out at Democrats after Georgia win

Trump lashes out at Democrats after Georgia win Trump lashes out at Democrats after Georgia win

"I certainly hope the Democrats do not force Nancy P out". In special elections for House seats vacated by Republicans who wound up in President Donald Trump's Cabinet, Democrats went 0-for-4 losing races in Georgia, Montana, South Carolina and Kansas.

As rumblings of dissatisfaction with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi grow among Democrats, Rep. Seth Moulton said her future "certainly" needed to be a topic of discussion.

"As long as Leader Pelosi is perceived as the leader of the House Democratic Caucus Republicans are going to continue to spend millions and millions of dollars in those swing districts to convince those swing voters, those independent voters, those Republican voters who might go our way, not to vote for our Democratic candidate because of Leader Pelosi", Vela said.

This is a longstanding process in both capitalist parties, where the "average" congressman, Democrat or Republican, is a millionaire, separated by a wall of privilege from the vast majority of their constituents, who are in a daily struggle to survive economically.

"Say "no" to Pelosi's "yes" man", blared one ad from the Congressional Leadership Fund super PAC.

That reality was the subtext for Pelosi's taunting remarks Thursday in which she cast her Democratic critics as hungry for attention rather than serious about ousting her.

Why the relentless focus on the Democratic congresswoman from San Francisco?

Kathleen Rice, one of a small group who has gone public with the message that Pelosi should go, hosted a dozen Democrats in her office Thursday for an hour-long strategy session.

Pelosi's allies have pointed out that numerous negative impressions that Republicans have of her are equally true of House Speaker Paul Ryan among Democratic voters.

"Right now, what I'm pushing for is a conversation within the caucus", Rice said.

"What's really important is that Donald Trump has seized the narrative back, that he's doing better with the voters than Democrats think he is", he said.

May apologized for the government's inadequate response to that fire and acknowledged the country faced "difficult times". But that deal has yet to be announced, and on Tuesday the DUP said the talks were not going as was expected.

"One of the disappointing things from the last couple days is that that approach has a little bit of punch to it, it still moves voters", Ryan said. "And we better focus", Ryan said. Another Democratic lawmaker also had some harsh words about Pelosi.

It's true Trump isn't wildly popular here, and Handel and her campaign underwhelmed some Republicans.

In an interview with Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" that aired Friday morning, Trump said of Pelosi: "I hope she doesn't step down". "But I think I'm worth the trouble, quite frankly". As a result, several House Democrats have intensely and publicly criticized Democratic minority leader Nancy Pelosi.

The President will then meet with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defense James Mattis.

"Sen. (Harry) Reid was a target, Sen". His 2015-16 giving was well behind Pelosi previous year, at $592,500.

That non-answer didn't work - so some Democrats on Wednesday were going further in distancing themselves from the former speaker.

Pelosi's staff fought back against the calls for new leadership.

Since 1990, she's raised more than $9.2 million for party candidates, including $739,000 in the 2016 election cycle, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks contributions from candidate committees and affiliated PACs.

"If we take back the House in 2018 then I think she'd stay leader", said Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz. "She has been a great leader, but like every leader, time immemorial, it's time for people to know when to go", Rice said. Trump wrote, referring to Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Ossoff, meanwhile, promised supporters a chance to "make Trump furious" and "send a message that will be heard across the country and around the world".

Yet neither Ossoff's campaign nor the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee attempted to tie Republican victor Karen Handel to Trump in a television ad even once. Techniques in Republican-controlled states such as limiting the availability of polling places in heavily Democratic areas have added to the Democrats' disadvantage, along with photo ID requirements that are harder for the poor to meet, and the disenfranchisement of ex-felons, who are disproportionately Black, Latino, and Native American.

"They tried it once and it worked".
