Websites belonging to a Long Island town and the OH state government were hacked Sunday to broadcast ISIS propaganda, according to reports.

The hacked page, which surfaced on Sunday afternoon and was quickly taken down, said it was "Hacked By Team System Dz".

The official website for Ohio Gov. John Kasich showed the same message from the hacker on its homepage as did the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections' website.

In a later statement, Tom Hoyt, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, said that IT staff were working to resolving the issue.

Those websites were taken offline on Sunday, shortly after the messages were discovered. "We also are working with law enforcement to better understand what happened", he said.

He said the hacking in OH happened at about 11 a.m. EDT.

The websites in Brookhaven and Howard County also remained down on Sunday.

The hack is part of ongoing cyberterrorism that has impacted governments and corporations across the globe.

NBC4 has reached out to the Department of Homeland Security, Gov. John Kasich's office, and several other officials for more information on this incident.

But others see cause for alarm. In addition to the pro-ISIS language, a line appeared on each page that said "Hacked by Team System DZ".

The message in the hacking attack contained an Arabic symbol and was written mainly in the black and white used in the flag of so-called Islamic State. "Wake up freedom-loving Americans", he said on Facebook.

On Facebook, Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel posted his own message regarding the hack.
