Police vehicle video of a Minnesota officer shooting a black motorist, whose dying moments were livestreamed on Facebook, was made public for the first time Tuesday, days after the officer was acquitted at trial.
Yanez fired his gun only a few seconds after Castile calmly informed the officer that he had a registered gun in the auto. Castile can be heard screaming as the shots ring out and says in agony "I wasn't reaching" as the officer begins to yell "fuck" again and again.
Yanez's partner, Joseph Kauser, was standing on the passenger side of the vehicle when Yanez opened fire but never pulled out his gun.
"Okay", Yanez interrupted his voice remaining steady as he shifted his right hand onto the holster of his gun. Yanez informs Castile that one of his break lights is out.
He was sacked by the St. Anthony police department shortly after being found not guilty.
Warning: the following video contains graphic violence and language.
Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. Scripps National Desk. The defense argued he killed Castile because he believed the man was going to pull out his weapon.

Ms Reynolds is heard explaining that her boyfriend was reaching for his ID, to which Mr Yanez replied: "I told him not to reach for it". It shows the situation escalating in a matter of seconds from calm conversation to rabid violence, despite Castile insisting that he is not reaching for his gun. "He didn't tell me where the [expletive deleted] gun was".
But last Friday a jury found the officer not guilty of manslaughter.
In a matter of seconds, Yanez reached for his gun and quickly fired off several shots after he apparently thought Castile was indeed reaching for his own weapon. Although the squad auto footage was described repeatedly and was shown to jurors in the courtroom, it had never been made public until Tuesday.
What follows is a tragedy as we hear continuous shots being fired at Philando Castile.
"I hope that the nation will really look at this carefully, Brooke", she said. "And I think that that left some doubt there", he added. "The city intends to offer Officer Yanez a voluntary separation agreement to help him transition to another career other than being a St. Anthony officer".
