As NPR's Bill Chappell reported previous year, Kohlhepp said he was also responsible for "shooting and killing four people in Chesnee, S.C. - a case that's been known locally as the Superbike murders".

Twelve years later, Kohlhepp killed married couple Johnny and Megan Leigh Coxie, who he'd hired to work on his property.

According to reports, Todd Christopher Kohlhepp began exhibiting severe behavioral issues when he was approximately eight years old. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole as part of a plea deal. "So I wonder what triggered them to search his property in the first place", another questioned.

Melissa Ponder Brackman's husband, Scott Ponder, was killed in 2003 at the Superbike Motorsports.

Her boyfriend, Charlie Carver, was shot and killed by Kohlhepp during her kidnapping. Dozens of family members of Kohlhepp's victims filled one side of the courtroom.

Kala Brown, three months after her rescue, told TV's "Dr. Phil" that she had cleaned houses for Kohlhepp's real estate listings, so she had no reason to fear him when she and Carver visited him at his invitation.

Johnny Coxie's mother said his 7-year-old son held out hope that his father was alive for months after he disappeared.

"He hates you with his little heart", she told Kohlhepp.

Moments before the hearing began, peppermint hard sweets and tissues were passed out to the families of Kohlhepp's victims.

Kohlhepp took her out of the container twice a day for about 30 to 45 minutes, Brown said.

"The term life means. until your death in the South Carolina Department of Corrections", Judge Derham Cole said, Greenville Online reported.

Before Kohlhepp was charged with murder previous year, he bought and sold real estate in Upstate South Carolina for a decade, and many people never knew he already had a criminal history.

Kohlhepp avoided the death penalty with his guilty plea.

No one has been executed in SC in more than six years because the state lacks the drugs needed for lethal injections.

Court records show he had previously served a 15-year sentence in Arizona for kidnapping and raping his neighbour when he was a teenager.

Before being arrested, Kohlhepp bought and sold real estate in Upstate South Carolina. Following his release from prison, he worked as a graphic designer before pursuing a license to sell real estate. He would watch pornographic videos during work and joked on his firm's website that he motivated workers by not feeding them.
