Stephen Colbert Is Pleased Trump Found the Leaker

Herman Weaver | 17 May, 2017, 14:21

He was referring, of course, to the scandal-du-jour out of the Trump administration, that the president in February asked then-FBI Director James Comey to stop investigating then-National Security Advisor Michael Flynn's ties to Russian Federation. Starting off with the bad news, he revealed the recent reports from The Washington Post that Donald Trump revealed highly classified information to top Russian officials last week.

One US official told The Post that the leaked details were considered "code-word information". The squirrel is in the basket.

As per usual, Stephen Colbert is our saving grace and one of the few lights that cut through the smothering Trump darkness. "We don't know what that means".

"He's firing Sean Spicer ... luckily that time Sean spent in the bushes will come useful when he's working at Home Depot".

"That would be huge".

Amid the fallout over Comey, Trump has reportedly been unhappy with his staff and has been considering replacing key members in what has been referred to as a "reboot". (Of course, those tweets are as likely to be true as anything else uttered by Trump, meaning not too likely.) For press secretary Sean Spicer that requires covering up, obfuscating, and stonewalling Watergate-style, which is horrifying as White House conduct - and comedy gold for Colbert.

Colbert was addressing the breaking news from The New York Times that President Donald Trump asked former FBI director James Comey to "let go" of the investigation into retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. "Please resign", Colbert said.

"Please, please, pleeeeease don't take Sean Spicer from us!" "Where else am I going to get my daily dose of veiled anger and condescension?"
